First off... RIP Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin. The guy was always fun to watch, loved what he did, and gave so much to conservation and education. He'll be missed, and Animal Planet will never see quite the same after this.
Second off... I think I need to win the lottery. I couldn't sleep last night, and was naturally thinking on LEGO stuff. I started dinking around the LEGO Shop@Home site, and figured out I could easily, and I mean easily, drop probably $200k on sets up there in bulk. Granted, a lot of this would be duplication, but a lot of it would be just getting the most stuff possible.
I think I want to build a castle out of LEGO. Which leads to the leading irony in my life right now. I play World of Warcraft, which I know I've said on here before. A few months ago, I moved all of my characters to a guild that had raiding times more compatable with my life (which is to say the raids didn't start late at night and I get to sleep before 4am on raiding nights). Normally, I'd been playing a warrior, but said guild was full of warriors, so I first moved my Rogue over there, essentially making that character my new main. That confused a great number of my friends, who were just used to calling me by my old main's name. But, I digress.
The guild I joined had a class leader structure, which means there's a Rogue class leader/officer that sits between the characters and the guild leader. I was in there for months before we'd really gotten into any discussions past the game. I'd made an off-hand comment that I was going to a Twins game, and how many ballparks I'd been in this year. I made a comment about Kauffman Stadium being a wonderful statement, but the Royals redefined suck as a team. My class leader talked about it, and low and behold, he lives in Kansas City along with his wife (and a few others in the guild). So we got to talking about the area, and I mentioned my wife is from Missouri and I went to Southwest Missouri State, and it went off from there.
But wait... there's more. As if the irony couldn't get any deeper, a couple days later, I started my usual daily mutterings about LEGO stuff. I talked about picking up a new set that I was putting together while other people were on the run. As it turns out, Chris collects castle LEGO sets, and is a huge fan of the LEGO toy. He's only a few years younger than me, and picked it up in college to revive his love of a childhood toy. While my main collection is Star Wars, I collect the castle sets (as well as Batman, City, and Vikings) as part of my collection. So we started talking about it, and I opened him up to the wealth of sites for Adult LEGO fans. Plus, now we can confuse everyone when we start talking about all these sets and have enough fun with them that it should be illegal.
